The ask

Peak demand charges and conveyors that stopped without warning

A distribution centre in Mirabel was paying for demand peaks it could not see and losing hours to conveyor stoppages nobody predicted.

Phase one

Energy meters by zone, in two weeks

Clamp meters on the main feeds and the forklift chargers, one gateway per zone, a dashboard by the end of week two. The peak showed up immediately: all the forklifts charging at shift change.

Phase two

Vibration on the conveyors, in four weeks

With the energy data flowing, we added vibration sensors on the conveyor drives and built a two-week baseline for each before enabling alerts.

The result

14% lower peak, two failures caught early

Staggering the charging schedule cut the monthly peak by 14%. The vibration alerts have caught two bearing failures before they stopped a line.

“Energy first, vibration second. The order mattered more than the hardware.
